Painter and multidisciplinary artist, London
The table as a site of exchange
Emma Stephan is a painter and multidisciplinary artist exploring the rituals, objects, and choreographies that shape domestic life. Working across painting, textiles, installation, and artist books, her practice investigates how ideas of home are constructed through gathering, memory, hospitality, and everyday habits. Beginning with the table as a recurring site of exchange, her work moves between family stories, folklore, and material culture, revealing the tensions that exist between comfort and expectation, intimacy and performance. Through familiar domestic scenes, she invites viewers to reconsider the quiet rituals that shape the way we live together.
